Slight Revision vs the GoDaddy builder

The GoDaddy builder, and your domain.

GoDaddy is where a lot of people already have their domain, so the builder is one click away. That convenience is real. Here is what it is good at, what it costs later, and what you get with us instead.

Good to know: your domain can stay at GoDaddy. really.

What it is

The builder that came with the domain.

GoDaddy’s builder, sold as Websites + Marketing, is a hosted, template-based site builder bundled with the account most small businesses already have for their domain. It also folds in email marketing, appointments and a small store, all inside one dashboard.

For a business that wants a few pages online this week, inside an account it already logs into, it does the job. That is the whole appeal, and it is a fair one.

In short: one account, one login, one bill: that is the pitch

One account

One login, one bill, one click.

That convenience is real, and it is why people choose it.

Everything in one account

Domain, site, email marketing and a store under one login. If you already live in GoDaddy, nothing new to learn.

Quick and cheap to start

Templates, a guided setup and an introductory price. A few pages can be live the same day.

Fine for a simple presence

Hours, services, a contact form and a map: for a site that mostly needs to exist, it exists.

Your domain can stay

Keep the domain, move the website.

Keep the domain where it is if you like; we work with GoDaddy-registered domains every week. What changes is the site itself, and who is responsible for it.

  • Your website, content and domain are yours. If you ever stop working with us, the site can move to another WordPress host. Some tools, licenses and BrightFrame features we provide as part of our managed service may need to be replaced or licensed separately, but the website itself is not trapped here. Your domain can stay at GoDaddy or move; either is fine.
  • A design built around your business, not a template with your logo dropped in.
  • People who handle the DNS, email records, updates, backups and monitoring, and who answer the phone.
  • Functionality built to fit when it is worth it, and honest advice when it is not.
  • A managed hosting plan with ongoing tools and support included, rather than an introductory website-builder price.
  • A move that keeps your content and improves the site while it is being rebuilt.

Moving later

Where convenience gets sticky.

It shows up when you want something the builder does not do, or want to move the site.

The pages stay in the builder

Store and product data may be exportable, but the website itself generally needs to be rebuilt elsewhere. GoDaddy’s help center covers exporting products to a spreadsheet; it does not offer an export of the pages and design.

Promotional and renewal prices differ

Promotional pricing and renewal pricing can differ, so compare the price you will actually pay after the introductory period, and include any business features you expect to use.

A defined feature set

The builder has a defined set of features. That is a strength when the job fits it, and a limitation when the business eventually needs a workflow or an integration outside it.

Support knows the product, not your business

GoDaddy’s support is real and knows its product. What it cannot know is your business, your other tools, or why the email stopped arriving on Tuesday. That context is what our clients are paying us for.

Side by side

The GoDaddy builder, and us.

The questions that decide it, for both.

When it is enough

When the GoDaddy builder is enough.

Yes, we sell websites, so of course we think our way is valuable. The point of this page is to say where that value actually matters, and where it does not.

Choose the GoDaddy builder if…

  • You need a few pages online this week and you already do everything in your GoDaddy account.
  • The site mostly needs to exist: hours, services, a form, a map.
  • You are comfortable being the one who runs it and pays the renewals.

Choose us if…

  • The site is how customers find, contact or pay you, and it needs to keep doing that without your attention.
  • You have already hit the builder’s ceiling, or the renewal made you wince.
  • You want to own the result and have a person responsible for it.

Questions

GoDaddy questions, answered.

Including whether your domain has to move. (It doesn’t.)

Do I have to move my domain away from GoDaddy?

No. We manage plenty of sites whose domains live at GoDaddy. We just point the domain at the new site and handle the DNS and email records. If you ever want to move it, we can do that too.

Can you move my GoDaddy builder site?

The content, yes: we take your text, images and product list and rebuild the site properly around them, since the builder offers no export of the pages. Most people end up with a better site than the one they left.

What about my GoDaddy email?

It keeps working. Email and the website are separate services, and we make sure the records that connect them stay correct through the move.

Is your hosting more expensive?

Our managed hosting will usually cost more than the cheapest do-it-yourself builder plan, because it includes people actively managing the site and its surrounding infrastructure. The useful comparison is the complete service, not just the hosting line. The plans are on our hosting page.

Found something that changed?

These tools move fast. If we have something wrong or out of date, tell us and we’ll fix it.
